For Peanut (Poem)

The sky was clear when picking you up;

When driving careful over bumps.

We saw you tread, then sniff around;

We watched you pawing unknown ground.

I raised you up in giant’s hands

And talked in tones you’d understand.

You gazed at birds that flapped the sky

And chased red dots, though knew not why.

I’ve spent far more on mobile phones,

Yet got far less than you’ve brought home.
